Police watchdog probing two NW cops accused of rape

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) is investigating a claim of rape against two officers stationed in North West.

Spokesperson for the police watchdog Lizzy Suping says the two officers responded to a domestic dispute involving a 20-year-old woman and boyfriend on Tuesday evening.
“After interviewing them, the police officers informed her that they were detaining her for malicious damage to property as she had broken the windows at her partner’s place.’
Suping says the 20-year-old woman was placed in handcuffs but never arrived at the Mahikeng police station.

Instead she was taken to a local entertainment venue where she was allegedly raped by the two police officers.
She was subsequently driven home in the early hours of morning.
“She was taken to hospital for medical attention by her family,” says Suping.
“Ipid is gathering evidence so that the investigation process can continue.”
