Power fully restored in Joburg CBD
The Johannesburg CBD was plunged into darkness last week.
City Power has confirmed the electricity supply has been fully restored in all affected areas.
Parts of the inner city had been without power for since last Monday.
City Power spokesperson Sol Masolo says technicians worked overnight to replace the stolen cables.
"Power has been restored to all the areas that were affected by the power interruption. Our technical team worked throughout the night and the day and we are thankful for their efforts. We thank citizens for the patience," he says.
Underground copper cables had been stolen.
A total of 22 people, including three scrapyard owners have been arrested.
