Power restored in Soweto, Cosmo City
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Eskom says it has restored power in Soweto, Emfuleni, Katlehong, Bophelong, Kagiso and Cosmo City on Friday.
The areas experienced intermittent power interruptions this week.
The outages were caused by overloading of the network due to illegal connections, the power utility said in a statement.
"We urge communities to refrain from illegal connections, to use electricity sparingly and to reduce their electricity consumption especially during peak periods."
Eskom has also urged communities to refrain from buying electricity from ghost vendors.
Meanwhile, the parastatal has not implemented load shedding over the past 10 months.
"We will inform all our customers including municipalities and the general public before any load shedding is implemented. We do not anticipate any load shedding this winter and beyond."
