President Zuma to make fresh representations
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
President Jacob Zuma has until the end of Wednesday to explain why he should not face prosecution for multiple criminal charges.

The Supreme Court of Appeal ruled last year that the decision to drop 783 counts of fraud, corruption, money laundering and racketeering charges against the president was irrational.
National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Shaun Abrahams extended Zuma's deadline, which was initially set at November 30, to make fresh representations on why he should not be prosecuted.
Zuma's new deadline is set for close of business on Wednesday.

The matter relates to the recordings between National Prosecuting Authority boss Bulelani Ngcuka and Scorpions head Leonard McCarthy.
The tapes seemingly show Ngcuka and McCarthy colluded on the timing of Zuma's indictment to influence the outcome of the ANC's 2007 elective conference in Polokwane.

The case known as the spy tapes saga was brought by the Democratic Alliance (DA) in 2009.
The National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) Luvuyo Mfaku says it will only comment once Zuma has submitted the representations.
