President Zuma welcome to attend Kathrada funeral

The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation has dismissed claims that President Jacob Zuma has been barred from attending the struggle stalwart’s funeral.
The Foundation’s Director Neeshan Bolton says Zuma can attend, but he is not among the list of speakers.
“We have heard the rumours. I can confirm that tomorrow’s program is run by the Foundation and most of the speakers are from the Foundation. Some are from the ANC, Cosatu and the SACP. The event is open to anyone who wishes to attend,” says Bolton.
Last year Kathrada wrote a letter to Zuma asking him to resign following the Nkandla judgement in the Constitutional Court.
“I know that if I were in the President’s shoes, I would step down with immediate effect. I believe that is what would help the country find its way out of a path that it never imagined it would be on, but one that it must move out of soon. Today I appeal to our President to submit to the will of the people and resign,” wrote Kathrada.
Zuma has declared a Special Official Funeral for the late Rivonia Treason Trialist.
