Protesting Wits student on Friday stood firm in their demand for free, decolonised higher education.
Students gathered on the university lawns today, following the decision by the institution to postpone the General Assembly.
Masses of students, lecturers, religious leaders, and staff met to highlight their demands.
Bishop Jo Seoka addressed the students saying religious leaders were in support of the students' call for free education.
"We are here to support the struggle of the students. They may believe that the issue of feasibility of fees that are free is no longer on the agenda... This country is blessed with many resources," he said.

Student leader Busisiwe Seabe told students that the SRC will meet with other universities and colleges over the weekend to decide on the way forward, with classes due to resume on Monday.
She said they are moving forward, with or without Vice-Chancellor Adam Habib.
"This is a revolution and this revolution will not wait for Adam Habib to come down from his tower," she said.
