Many are seeking answers as to why the match between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates continued as usual.

Orlando Pirates chairperson Dr Irvin Khoza and Kaizer Chiefs chairperson Kaizer Motaung briefed the media on Monday.

Khoza says nobody goes to a soccer match to die.

"Before you try and appoint blame on anybody, we need to gather all of the facts. Why was the game not stopped? This is a very difficult question."

He maintains no stone will be left unturned during the investigation.

Khoza says an independent investigator must be appointed to investigate the tragedy.

It is expected to report back within 14 days

It's alleged the selling of fake tickets outside the stadium is what led to the stampede.

Gauteng police say they will investigate these claims.

Provincial police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says: "There are allegations that there were people selling fake tickets. Our investigation will also try and establish what caused the stampede and why there were so many people outside the stadium."

Here's what Twitter had to say.
