Public hearings dealing with people's experiences of the laws passed since the dawn of democracy are underway in Johannesburg.
Chaired by former President Kgalema Motlanthe, the 17 member panel is assessing the effectiveness of key legislation passed since 1994.
The panel will also assess implementation of our laws, identify gaps and propose necessary interventions and recommendations
The panel's focus areas are poverty, unemployment, inequality and equitable distribution of wealth. Land reform and rural development, social cohesion and nation building
The Gauteng hearing this week will be the fifth of the panel's provincial public hearings being held in each of the nine provinces. Hearings have already been held in the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Free State and KwaZulu-Natal.
The panel is scheduled to submit its final report in August 2017, when the report will be launched at a media briefing.
