Queen Mantfombi was a woman of grace and dignity, says Buthelezi

Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has described Queen Shiyiwe Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu as a leader who prioritised the advancement of the the Zulu nation.

Dlamini-Zuma was speaking at the Queen’s memorial service of Friday.

The memorial service was attended by several high-profile guests, including former president Jacob Zuma.

Dlamini Zulu died last week at a Johannesburg hospital at the age of 65.

“We looked forward to solidifying our relation in the contest of her ascending to the throne as a regent, we were certain that our ancestors and the universe had favoured us with the right calibre and a leader who would advance AmaZulu nation to greater and more caring heights. For us she was a centrepiece by which we will reconstruct the traditional systems of commerce, governance and diplomacy,” said Dlamini Zulu.

Amazulu Traditional Prime Minister Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi described her as a woman of grace and dignity.

“She was a woman of grace and dignity, simply from the way she carried herself, one could see that she was born to royalty,

She had a deep concern for a people, particularly for the woman of the Zulu nation, she stretched out her hands and helped them to rise she was truly a combination of beauty and brain, I looked forward to her regency, she would’ve surprised many with her mind, it was that dedication that led to her leading the Zulu nation.”

Buthelezi announced at the end of the official memorial service that family’s advocate was on her way to read the will.

“An Advocate of the high court, Advocate Madonsela has a will that the queen entrusted her with, Madonsela is on her way, I ask that the family finds a place to meet at 5pm in private. We will make an announcement later but I think a way forward will be charted once that is done, to hear what the Queen has left instructions on the way forward,” said Buthelezi.
