R2m drug bust at Botswana-SA border post

The Hawks in North West have arrested a man suspected of smuggling drugs worth a street value of R2.2 million.

The 45-year-old suspect was intercepted at the Swartkopfontein border post on Sunday.
The suspected smuggler was traveling in a taxi from Botswana to South Africa when officials searched the vehicle and found three bags of cocaine hidden in two backpacks.
Hawks spokesperson Tlangelani Rikhotso said the suspect will appear before the Lehurutse Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
