Ramaphosa described the public exchange on social media as "extremely unfortunate and deeply regrettable".

"Such exchanges on social media are unbecoming of their high offices and fail to provide the leadership required in this instance", says Presidential spokesperson Khusela Diko
"The public interest is best served through collaboration, not conflict, and the appropriate platform for leaders to express and reconcile differing views is Cabinet and other coordination forums".
Ramaphosa has asked Transport Minister, Fikile Mbalula to meet with Mboweni and Makhura to discuss possible solutions to resolve the current impasse around Gauteng's e-toll system.
"The president says that while the user-pay principle remains a policy of government, e-tolls in Gauteng in their present form have presented challenges", says Diko.
"The ministers and premier have to table their proposals to Cabinet by the end of August 2019.
"The President expects that the consultations within government over the coming weeks will produce workable outcomes."
