Updated | By Cliff Shiko
President Cyril Ramaphosa has mourned the death of two South African National Defence Force soldiers in a mortar attack in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says Ramaphosa is humbled by the sacrifices they have made to bring peace and stability to the region.
The attack left 20 others injured.
A SANDF soldier was also killed in the region in May, and another two in February.
"President Ramaphosa offers his deep condolences to the families of the fallen troops as well as their commanders and colleagues," said Magwenya on Thursday.
"The president’s thoughts are also with the SANDF members who are recovering from their injuries.
"The president assures the bereaved families and the injured troops that the South African National Defence Force will take the utmost care to provide the necessary logistical and psychosocial support to all those affected."
