The train in which Ramaphosa travelled from Mabopane, as part of an election blitz, was delayed by more than three hours

The president, along with other ANC officials including Fikile Mbalula, Gauteng premier David Makhura and ANC Tshwane chairperson Kgosi Maepa, boarded the Metrorail train in Mabopane at 7:30.

The train only arrived at the Bosman station after 11:00.

“So we saw for ourselves, because we did not announce, this was an unannounced arrival. We saw how our trains never arrive on time. We also saw that there are no functional toilets facilities. We saw that for ourselves. We also saw there is no safety at the station and on the train. Once we were on the train, it was very slow and kept stopping all the time. It is unacceptable that a 50 kilometre trip takes us 3 hours. We are going to tell Prasa that if they don’t get this right then heads must roll,” Ramaphosa said.
