Ramaphosa was in Tzaneen in Limpopo on Saturday to launch the ANC's Letsema campaign in the province.

Addressing community members at the Nkowankowa Stadium, Ramaphosa said the Letsema programme is aimed at reconnecting the ANC with communities and renewing the party's social contract with the people.

"We are seeking to engage anew with our people and reach out to them," Ramaphosa said.

"Through this Letsema process, we are going through all our provinces - engaging with our people and strengthening the unity within the ANC.

"We have admitted that over time the leadership position of the ANC in society has weakened."

Ramaphosa said he hopes the Letsema campaign will demonstrate to people that the ANC cares.

"Many times when I go around our country, I find our cities and towns filthy," Ramaphosa said

"Last week we embarked on a process at Delmas where we started cleaning one of the townships

"As we were doing that, the people looked at what the ANC was doing and appreciated it.

"That little process of going out to ensure that the schools are clean, the streets are clean, the graveyards are clean - the ANC must be seen to be leading in that.

"We want to see our country orderly, we want to see our cities cleaner and we want to see the potholes closed

"All of us can participate in this and we can all play a role."

Ramaphosa also emphasised that the party is doing many things to repair and rebuild the country.

"The Zondo commission has given us their final report on state capture, said Ramaphosa.

"We are going to report in Parliament to tell them precisely what our strategy is going to be. There should never be state capture in our country again.

"We saw what state capture did and we will not allow it to come back."
