Rand Water implements stage 1 water restrictions in Tshwane
Updated | By Eva Chipa
Rand Water has implemented stage 1 water restrictions throughout the City of Tshwane.
Stage 3 water restrictions were earlier implemented in several areas in the city, including Ga-Rankuwa, Soshanguve, Mabopane, Kruisfontein Reservoir and Rosslyn due to a drop in reservoir levels.
The city’s Lindela Mashigo says there was no way to avoid the restrictions.
“Restricting water in Tshwane was inevitable and the only viable option in an effort to save the distribution network from collapsing.
“The latest announcement from Rand Water on citywide stage 1 restrictions is with immediate effect.”
Residents will not be allowed to water or irrigate gardens with a hosepipe or sprinkler system between 06:00 and 18:00.
