Randburg man sentenced to life for raping minor
The Randburg Magistrate’s Court has handed Johannes Motshabi a life sentence for raping a seven-year-old girl in Diepsloot in July 2019.
The girl was his neighbour’s child.
Motshabi, who was convicted of rape and kidnapping, was arrested after the girl alerted someone about the incident.
NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonodwane says they hope that this sentence will serve as a deterrent.
"As the NPA we hope that the sentence will serve to deter like-minded individuals and that it will send a strong message that there is no space in society of perpetrators of violence crimes against children."
