of Forestry, Fisheries and Working on Fire are deploying some 100 firefighters
to Canada to assist with firefighting efforts in that country.

Thousands of residents fled blazes in western Canada on Wednesday with several hundred soldiers scheduled to deploy to fight this year's virulent and early fires, which are wreaking havoc across portions of western North America.

The firefighters will be deployed for 34 days but they have 5000 other firefighters in their ranks if an extension to the deployment is needed.
“We will be deployed for a period of about 34 days. If there is a need for an extension there will be another deployment from some of the other resources, we have some 5000 firefighters in our ranks in South Africa.”
