SAA condemns possible pilot strike
Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
South African Airways (SAA) says the national airline is disappointed by threats coming from the South African Airways Pilots' Association (SAAPA) to down tools.
SAAPA said last week an independent survey at the airline in June revealed that the majority of pilots were unhappy with management at SAA and 90 % of those surveyed indicated they would take part in industrial action to force change .
The association has since threatened SAA to embark on the first ever pilot strike at the national carrier in 80 years.

SAA spokesperson Tlali Tlali says they are not in support of these plans.
"The position adopted including threats to embark on an industrial action is contrary to meaningful engagement and meaningful progress we are making not affecting only SAAPA but SAA and all its employees," says SAA spokesperson Thlali Thali.
SAAPA could not yet be reached for comment on any decision whether a strike notice will be issued.
