SANDF deployed to four provinces amid truck attacks
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The South African National Defence Force has confirmed that it has deployed soldiers to four provinces in the wake of a series of arson attacks on trucks.
The SANDF will assist law enforcement in Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State.
More than 20 trucks have been torched over the past week.
Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the attacks, and they are expected to appear in court on Monday.
Spokesperson Simphiwe Dlamini says their role is to support the police.
"We will be assisting the police, and when we deploy, we work according to their plan. In many instances, we follow their plan of action. The deployment is in support of the South African Police Services."
