SANDF soldier in court on double murder charge

A South African National Defence Force (SANDF) soldier has appeared in the Pongola Magistrate’s Court in northern KwaZulu-Natal in connection with the murder of two men.

The 35-year-old allegedly shot and killed Wandile Zungu (22) and 26-year-old Mandela Dlamini on Friday in Golela.

The man reportedly shot the two victims after accusing them of harassing his girlfriend and refusing to leave the property.

Provincial police spokesperson Thembeka Mbele says a R4 rifle was seized from the scene.

“Both deceased were shot in the stomach and sustained gunshot wounds. The deceased were found covered with blankets.“
