Santaco: Business as usual despite strike
Updated | By Laila Majiet & Amogelang Maledu
Taxi association Santaco has assured commuters they will not be left stranded on Wednesday.
It comes amid a nationwide strike against state capture.
Trade union federation Cosatu has called the strike in protest of corruption, job losses and labour brokers.
Members of Cosatu and its affiliates are set to take to the streets in all nine provinces.

Santaco spokesperson Thabisho Molelekwa says: "We are not expecting any disruptions. It will be business as usual, unless of course if some people have privately hired out their vehicles to assist. However, Santaco has not endorsed any form of support that will end up disrupting the normal operations of taxis."
About 100 000 people across the country are expected to participate in the strike.
The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) says officers will be on the ground to monitor the procession.
JMPD spokesperson Edna Mamonyane says marchers will make several stops to hand over memorandums.
Mamonyane says they expect about 3000 people to gather at Cosatu House in Johannesburg from 09:00.
These are the roads to avoid:
- Jorissen Street
- Civic Boulevard
- Hoofd Street
- Biccard Street
- Simmonds Street
- Marshall Street
