Sars considers legal action against Jacques Pauw for Zuma tax claims
Updated | By Nathan Daniels & Laila Majiet
The South African Revenue Services (Sars) is set to take legal action against journalist and author Jacques Pauw.
It follows the publication of President Jacob Zuma's tax information.
Pauw's book 'The President's Keepers' claims Zuma failed to submit his tax returns for at least the first five years of his presidency.
Sars spokesperson Sandile Memela says they cannot refute the allegations as it would be a breach of the relationship between Sars and the taxpayer.
He does however dismiss allegations that officials who were allegedly administering Zuma's tax affairs were purged from the organisation.
Memela says the publication of Zuma's tax affairs is unlawful and amounts to a criminal offence.
