According to early forecasts, there’s no indication at this stage that a heatwave will hit Gauteng this week.

SAWS forecaster Kgolofelo Mahlangu says Gauteng will not experience any heatwave soon.

"As for Gauteng we do not have an indication of any heatwave anytime soon but however we will keep monitoring the situation as the week goes and see if we need to issue out a heatwave indication or not."

Mpumalanga and Limpopo will be experiencing a heatwave, with temperatures expected to soar to at least 36 degrees Celsius in the Lowveld of Limpopo.

"In the Lowveld, we are looking at temperatures of about 36 degrees and greater, as well as over the southwestern bushveld of Limpopo, which is parts of Lephalale, Thabazimbi and Alldays, they all will be reaching about 38 degrees and higher starting from Wednesday."

In Mpumalanga, temperatures in the Highveld areas are expected to reach 32 degrees and above.

"Over the Highveld and the escarpment of Mpumalanga, temperatures of only about 32 degrees will warrant a heatwave over places of the west of Nelspruit going towards Lydenberg, Granskop, Middleburg and Ermelo.

"Witbank will be seeing about 33 degrees and higher."

Rain and thundershowers are forecasted for Kwazulu-Natal.
