Updated | By Makhosazane Twala
Healthcare has resumed at Panorama Mediclinic in Cape Town after a fire
broke out in the building on Thursday morning.
The clinic was forced to evacuate patients when a fire started in the kitchen of the coffee shop.
Mediclinic Southern Africa confirmed the blaze, saying none of the patients suffered any injuries.
One of the staff members suffered minor injuries, while two were treated for smoke inhalation.
Mediclinic’s Gerrit de Villiers says the fire has been extinguished and all patients back in their respective wards.
“Ever since the fire broke out this morning patients have been returned to their units. Everything has been sorted out.
“Fortunately, we had a quick turnaround from the emergency services who were able to come to the scene and manage the fire.
“Everything is fine at the moment, no patients were injured, but three of our staff members had to be treated for smoke inhalation and minor injuries.”
