Several parts of Joburg without power
City Power says it is experiencing power outages in several parts of Johannesburg on Thursday afternoon.
Areas hit by the power cuts are Lombardy East, Alexandra, Houghton, Bramley Park, Rosebank, Kew, Illovo, Houghton, Melrose, Killarney, Sandringham and surrounding suburbs.
The utility’s spokesperson Isaac Mangena says technicians are on the ground trying to restore power.
"Some parts of the city centre do not have electricity as we speak, and as such, it is affecting traffic as there are some robots that are not working.”
The cause of the power outages is unclear.
