The Presidency on Friday made public the list of 12 names vying for the position of National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP).

An advisory panel set up by President Cyril Ramaphosa and chaired by Energy Minister Jeff Radebe, has whittled down the number of candidates to a dozen after receiving 22 applications and 24 nominations.
"The panel that had been appointed by the President to assist in the identification and selection of candidates for the position of National Director or of Public Prosecutions did meet on 8 November and finalised the names that will interviewed in the week of the 14 November," says the Presidency’s Khusela Diko.
She says the panel used strict criteria when compiling the shortlist.
“The panel is looking for candidates as outlined in the National Prosecuting Act. These are South African citizens, they possess qualifications that allow then to practice in any South African courts, as well as being fit and proper persons who demonstrate integrity and conscientiousness in the execution of their work.”
