Slain woman laid to rest in Limpopo
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
Friends and family have gathered in Dakari village in Limpopo to bury 19-year old Precious Baloyi.
Baloyi left home in April to buy a birthday cake for her child, only for farm workers to weeks later discover her body in the bushes between Mukhomi and Mavambe.
Speaking to mourners at the funeral, local tribal leader Wilson Baloyi expressed his concern about the delays in the release of the DNA test results and that no arrests have been in connection with the killing.
Despite a commitment by the Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula to crack down on perpetrators of gender-based violence, another body was found outside Thohoyandou last week.
South Africa has recently experienced a spate of attacks on women and children, raising concerns over the safety and security of vulnerable groups.
