Storm-hit schools will write final exams: KZN Education
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
Emergency mobile classrooms have been dispatched to more than 200 schools in the province to ensure matrics are able to write their exams.
The department announced yesterday that at least 400 schools were severely damaged in recent storms in the province.
"People that have been affected by the storm will not have any bearing for the upcoming matric examination," he says.
Spokesperson, Kwazi Mthethwa says some schools will have to rebuilt from scratch. In the meantime, pupils will write their exams in the temporary structures.
"There are marking centres that have been utilised over a couple of years - they do not have a problem at all. They were not affected. Administration of matric examinations for the academic year of 2017 will not be affected," he says.
