Strong wind wreaks havoc in Vaal area

Twenty five people were transported to hospital after a strong wind ripped through the Vaal Marina area late Monday afternoon.

Emergency service ER24 says emergency personnel from various services were called out to the Vaal area - and specifically the Vaal Marina on Monday afternoon following reports that a sudden strong wind caused havoc.
ER24 says in a statement at least 50 people sustained minor injuries.
"When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 18H00, they found extensive damage caused by the wind. Rooftops were blown off and power lines were damaged, " reads the statement.
Residents told emergency services they saw a tornado hitting the area.
"A total of 25 patients were transported by ER24, as well as another medical service on the scene, to hospital for further medical care."
A video showed the extensive damage caused.
