Surveillance cameras for tourism hotspot

The City of Johannesburg has installed CCTV cameras at one of Soweto's most popular tourist stops - Vilakazi Street.

Mayor Herman Mashaba says this is a further commitment to decrease crime.
"From this moment on, we will be able to monitor the area around the clock for any possible criminal activity. I have committed my administration to create a safe enviorment for business, including business in Vilakazi street and Soweto," says Mashaba.
In February, an attempted robbery led to the death of Sakhumzi Resturant manager, Khwesi Hudson.
Hudson was gunned down by two suspects who broke into the restaurant after closing time.
Mashaba warned criminals that they'll soon have nowhere to hide.
