Suspect arrested for Hawks robbery

A 31-year-old suspect has been
arrested in connection with a robbery at the Hawks premises in Kimberley in the
Northern Cape.

The robbery occurred in July.
The 31 year-old woman was arrested in Temba on the East Rand on charges of theft and housebreaking.
Hawks spokesperson Philani Nkwalase says the suspect offered a security officer on duty at the Hawks premises a spiked beverage that left him unconcious, which subsequently led to her gaining access to the premise.
''The suspect raided the premises' safe, leaving with an undisclosed amount of money, but no documents were stolen and no security official was left physically harmed."

Nkwalase says the stolen money was linked to another case.
''Perhaps the people involved in this crime thought that they would uncover the R1.4 million the Hawks in Kimberly recovered after a G4S heist in September, which wasn't stored at our premises.”
The suspect appeared at the Kimberly Magistrates Court on Monday and the matter was postponed to the 18 December for a formal bail application.
