Suspected cop killers' bail bid delayed

Four of seven people accused of killing a police officer have once again failed to re-apply for bail, this time because the investigating officer was not available in court.

Sindi Mvubu, 23, Victor Sibiya, 23, Wiseman Ngomane, 30, Absalom Nkosi, 25, and Innocent Lucas Ngomane, 30, appeared in the Tonga Magistrate's Court on Friday, charged with the murder of Constable Sfiso Mtsweni, 27.
"Let's meet next month in this same court where the bail application will be heard," senior magistrate Sam Nkuna said.
On May 1, the four's co-accused, Mpendulo Makamo, 25, of Langeloop south of Malalane, Soneni Mhlabane, 27, and Absalom Nkosi, 25, all from Matsulu township near Mbombela, were granted R2000 bail each.
They were all arrested at different times for the murder of Mtsweni. He was shot dead at his home in Langeloop, south of Malalane, on November 8, 2013.
Last month, the court heard that the others had changed their minds about remaining in custody and wanted to re-apply for bail.
Nkuna postponed the case to June 27 to allow the four other accused to re-apply for bail.
