Suspected rapist stoned to death in Limpopo
Updated | By ANA
A man was stoned to death by villagers for allegedly attempting to rape a woman in Machakaneng near Atok, Limpopo police said on Thursday.
“The deceased was suspected of alleged attempted rape of a 35-year-old woman who screamed and alerted the community after midnight on Wednesday. The man was then stoned to death apparently by a mob in the village,” police said.
His body was discovered in a street on Wednesday morning. A murder investigation was under way.
Provincial commissioner General Fannie Masemola condemned the incident and urged communities to report suspected criminals to the police, and refrain from taking the law into their hands.
