Suspects flee with alcohol after robbing Sandton liquor store
A popular liquor outlet located in Atholl Square in Sandton, north of Johannesburg, was ransacked in the early hours of Monday morning.
Four armed suspects tied up security guards at the complex and proceeded to break into Spar’s Tops liquor store.

Gauteng police say the suspects were involved in a shoot-out with security officers before fleeing the scene with several bottles of alcohol.
“The security reaction officers reacted to the alarm and on their arrival the suspects noticed them. The suspects allegedly started shooting towards the reaction officers who then returned fire,” says spokesperson Mathapelo Peters.
“No one was injured and no arrest has been made so far. The police are investigating.”
