Taxi strike leaves commuters stranded

Taxi and Bus commuters have been left stranded in Tshwane on Wednesday morning as a result of the national taxi strike.

The National Taxi Alliance (NTA) will be marching from the west of Pretoria to the Transport Department and the office of the President at the Union Buildings.


Taxi drivers will gather at the old Putco depot from 8 am.

Tshwane MMC for Roads and Transport Sheila Senkugube says buses in Pretoria North and Eastlands have also been affected by the taxi strike.


"Our CD de Wet bus 81 and 105, Pretoria North 36 and 37 and Eastlands 16 and 23 are running a bit delayed, and obvioulsy because of traffic dealys, some of these buses will be running behind schedule", says Senkugube.



Yesterday the Gauteng Department of Education also expressed its concern over matric pupils writing exams this morning.
