Teaching conflict resolution in school could help fight against GBV, says Ramaphosa
President Cyril Ramaphosa believes teaching conflict resolution in schools could help in curbing the scourge of gender-based violence in South Africa.
Ramaphosa addressed the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers' Union (Sactwu) national congress in Durban on Monday, where he again emphasised the need to address gender-based violence and femicide.
The country’s shocking gender-based violence stats has been in the spotlight following several high-profile killings.

Ramaphosa suggested that all pupils should be given skills to address violence against women.
“We must build gender neutral socialisation also in our school curriculum and at the same time, we must empower both boys and girls to understand that they are equal.
“Most importantly boys and girls must be taught, how to resolve conflict amongst themselves without resorting to violence.”
