Ndlovu and three others died in a car crash in Rustenburg on Saturday.

In a moving eulogy, Ndlovu was described as “fearless and a woman of integrity”.

"She was a trail blazer and pioneer who defied stereotypes and became the symbol for the unlimited potential of black women. Although Thandi grew to be a titan in her industry, she remained humble throughout her life."

Several other speakers described her as disciplined and generous.

The ceremony was attended by Gauteng premier David Makhura, as well as other prominent African National Congress (ANC) politicians.

Speaking on behalf of the governing party, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma lauded Ndlovu for her role in the anti-apartheid struggle.

"Comrade Thandi was an embodiment of the best values you expect in the most advanced cadre."

Dlamini-Zuma added that she served the ANC diligently.

"The premier will remember that even when there was trouble in Gauteng and we needed a structure there, an interim structure, Thandi was one of the people called.

"She didn't say no. When she was called, she responded."

Ndlovu was the founder and CEO of Motheo Construction Group, an accomplished businesswoman and Mkhonto WeSizwe (MK) veteran.

The construction industry heavyweight contributed significantly to transformation in the sector.
