Three arrested for Diepkloof protests

Gauteng police have arrested at least three people on charges of public violence during Monday morning’s protests in Diepkloof.
Angry community members took to the streets of Soweto, barricading roads with burning tyres and rocks.
This is the second time the residents took to the streets to complain over a lack of electricity, houses, water and sanitation.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says protestors damaged three vehicles belonging to members of the media, as well as two police vehicles.
"The protesters started throwing the police with stones, and police had to use rubber bullets to disperse them. The protesters stopped a truck that was loaded with liquor and took the alcohol.
"The situation is calm at the moment, and traffic is flowing safely. Police are still in the area, monitoring the situation.
"The arrested suspects will be charged with public violence.”
