Three bodies recovered following Implats mudslide

The bodies of three Impala Platinum miners have been recovered at a Rustenburg mineshaft following an underground mudslide.
The mudslide happened on Sunday.
The bodies were recovered on Monday night after a search and rescue operation was launched at the weekend.
Mine spokesperson Johan Theron says seven employees were doing maintenance work when the incident occurred.

“Two managed to escape safely with only minor injuries while five became entrapped in the mudslide and remained missing for a period of time.
“Two employees were recovered; they are in a serious but stable condition in hospital. Regrettably the three other employees passed on and were recovered last night (Monday).”
Operations at the mine remain suspended.
