Three killed in Plettenberg Bay bus crash
Updated | By Nokukhanya Mntambo
Three people were killed and at least 40 others injured after a bus veered off the road and overturned in Plettenberg Bay on Friday.
The driver of the bus was among those killed.
"At this stage the cause of the accident is not known. An investigation into this matter is still at a very early stages," says Western Cape police spokesperson Chris Spies.
It is alleged that the bus had taken an alternative route to avoid the N2 protests but police have denied the link.
"From our side we wouldn't says that there is a link, but I can confirm that the N2 highway is still closed because of protest action along along the N2 in Plettenberg Bay. The airport route is currently being used for the redirect or reroute of traffic," says Spies.
