Three killed in KZN attempted heist

Three people have been shot dead following an attempted cash-in-transit heist in Dalton, north-east of Pietermaritzburg.
Police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says a group of armed men approached a cash vehicle earlier an opened fire.
She says officers who were nearby responded and were on the scene within minutes with a shootout ensuing.
"Three suspects died at the scene - with one sustaining injuries. A total of four unlicensed firearms were also recovered from the suspects. The injured suspect was taken to hospital for medical attention and is in hospital under police guard.
"A case of attempted cash-in-transit, the possession of an unlicensed firearm and attempted murder is being investigated," she says.

A security guard was shot in the hand and is receiving treatment in hospital.
