Three TUT campuses closed

Classes at the Pretoria, Arcadia and the Arts campuses of the Tshwane University of Technology will remain suspended for today.

That's according to a notice published on the university's website late last night.
"Disruptions were experienced at the Pretoria and Arcadia campuses this morning and lectures had to be suspended after protestors interrupted classes at these campuses. Attempts to disrupt the Arts Campus were fortunately quickly contained," a statement reads.
TUT says in the statement that in view of the continued disruptions they have decided to suspend activities at three of it's Pretoria campuses until Monday.
"Except for essential services, all activities for students and staff members at these campuses will be suspended," TUT spokesperson, Willa de Ruyter says.
She also urged students and staff members to verify the content of all WhatsApp and text messages they receive with information published on the TUT website.
"Exit exams scheduled for today will continue as planned," she says.
A meeting between university management and the Student's Representative Council will take place today, in order to discuss the issues that were raised.
