The funeral arrangements of renowned world leader Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu have been confirmed.
Tutu died at his Cape Town home on Sunday.
He was 90.
Tutu’s namesake foundation says while arrangements are still in their infancy, the Arch’s funeral has been set for Saturday.
“The bells of St George’s Cathedral will be rung daily for 10 minutes, starting at midday, from Monday to Friday.”
In the build-up to Tutu’s final send-off, a memorial service will be held at the Diocese of Pretoria in Gauteng.
On Thursday evening, the foundation will host an intimate evening with the friends of the Arch and his wife Leah Tutu.
On Friday, Archbishop Tutu will lie in state in St George’s Cathedral.
“On Saturday, Archbishop Makgoba will lead the Archbishop’s funeral service, also at St George’s Cathedral,” the foundation added.
The South African government is yet to confirm if Tutu will be given a state funeral.
