Two die in fire at Selby informal settlement
Two people have been killed, and some 30 homes were destroyed in a fire at the Eloff Extension informal settlement in Selby, Johannesburg.
The fire broke out on Friday overnight.
Joburg emergency services spokesperson Nana Radeba-Kgiba says what caused the fire is unclear.
"On arrival, we found multiple shacks well alight, and it took plus two hours to fully extinguish the 30-plus shacks involved," she says.
Radebe-Kgiba added that emergency services were on the scene registering the displaced families.
