Two injured in Stellenbosch plane crash
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
Two men were injured when the light aircraft they were flying in was forced to make an emergency landing near Stellenbosch on Wednesday morning.
The aircraft crashed on the R44 between Stellenbosch and Strand.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring says paramedics arrived on the scene to find the wrecked aircraft in the middle of the busy road.
“Two men were seen seated near the aircraft. Medics assessed the men and found that one had sustained serious injuries while the other had escaped with minor injuries. Fortunately, no fatalities were found.
“The patients were treated and provided with pain-relief medication before being transported to Mediclinic Stellenbosch for urgent care,” says Meiring.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
