Two more suspects in court over R103m ABSA bank 'heist'
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Two suspects arrested in connection with the theft of R103 million appeared in the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Thursday.
A 43-year-old traditional healer from KwaZula-Natal, Khumbulani Elvis Ntombela and a 29-year-old woman Nonelwa Nondlazi are facing charges of fraud, theft, and money laundering.
Earlier this year, prime suspect former Specialist Engineer at ABSA Sandton branch Xolela Masebeni was arrested in January.
He allegedly transferred approximately R103 million into different bank accounts over four months.
He was shot and killed at his home in Eastern Cape in February.
Gauteng Hawks spokesperson Ndivhuwo Mulamu says the pair was positively linked through bank transactions where they allegedly benefited from the stolen millions.
The case was postponed to 18 May for a formal bail application.
