The University of Cape Town (UCT) has established a scholarship in the name of the late Uyinene Mrwetyana.
The 19-year old was raped and killed at a post office in Claremont in the Western Cape last month - allegedly by an employee.
Her death has sparked outrage across the country with protests planned against gender-based violence.

UCT Vice-Chancellor, Mmamokgethi Phakeng, announced the scholarship while addressing mourners at the funeral service in the Eastern Cape on Saturday morning.
"One of the ways we hope to restore her aspirations and take a stand against the crime that ended her life, is through establishing the Uyinene Mrwetyana scholarship for women in Humanities at UCT," said Phakeng.
Phakeng added the scholarship will provide an opportunity for young women like Mrewetyana who dream of a career in Humanities.
