Spokesperson for the unemployed doctors task team, Dr Mumtaz Emeran, says the march to the Union Building is aimed at putting a voice to the grievances by healthcare workers and a memorandum of their demands will be handed to the Presidency.

This comes after qualified health practitioners have raised concerns about the lack of employment in the sector.

"This highlights a sad reality for South Africa, a South Africa that is in desperate need for quality healthcare, yet the employment of healthcare workers has not been prioritised.

"For the past nine weeks, we have appealed to government for the employement of healthcare workers in the public sector, but our plea has fallen on deaf ears and furthermore has been dismissed."

Marchers are expected to gather at 9am on the corners of Madiba and Kgosi Mampuru Street in Pretoria.

Tshwane Metro Police says in a statement that officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all the affected streets.

From the gathering point, the marchers will join Madiba Street then proceed straight to the Union Buildings.

"Streets that will be affected include Madiba Street, Thabo sehume Street, Lilian ngoyi Street, Sisulu Street and Steve Biko Street."

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as the Struben Street, Johannes Ramokhoase Street, Francis Baard Street and Stanza bopape Street.
