Unions want to be involved in SAA business rescue process

The unions say they have written to SAA management, giving them until Friday morning to respond to their demand to be engaged and involved in choosing an independent business rescue practitioner "to work with the one chosen by DPE."
The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) and the South African Cabin Crew Association (Sacca) say they want to be involved in the business rescue plans for the embattled state-owned airline, SAAA.
They met this week with rival union Solidarity in the wake of government's announcement that SAA would now be restructured by a business rescue practitioner.

In a joint statement, Numsa and Sacca say they support the efforts by Solidarity to have the airline forced into business rescue.
They view government's move to go into voluntary business rescue as "insincere, and an attempt to retain control by the board."
