UNISA strike continues
Updated | By MornéJK
Workers belonging to the National Education Health and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu), who downed tools across the country yesterday, are continuing their strike for better salaries.
According to Nehawu's Khaya Xaba, workers lowered their demand of a 14% salary increase to 10%, but Unisa stuck with their offer of a 4,5 % salary increase.
"The deadlock continues because Unisa's latest offer is an insult to our members," he told Jacaranda FM News.
He says they can't accept an increase of 4,5% as their members won't be able to make a living with an increase of less than 10%.

The Minister of Higher Education, Blade Nzimande pleaded with universities that there be no disruptions on campuses, but Xaba says their strike is labour related and not a fees matter.
"We must not confused issues. The minister was referring to Fees Must Fall protests and our strike is a labour issue against the management of Unisa," Xaba says.
